Black Summer (Rhys Toms) is a young Australian EDM producer and DJ. He was ‘Unearthed’ by Triple J radio in February 2015 at the age of 11. Rhys starred in a Triple J mini documentary about musicians in regional Australia which went viral receiving close to 3 million views online.
Since then Rhys has been producing original music and DJing live at events such as ‘Groovin the Moo 2015 and 2017’, Nickelodeon Slimefest (Sydney and Melbourne) Summernats 2016 as well as speaking on a panel for the Indent music conference, Sydney.
He has also appeared on Channel 10’s ‘The Project’. He is currently the face of the Uncle Toby’s Oats campaign titled ‘The Unexpected Maestro’ which aired on all major channels.
He was also the the house DJ for channel nines Gold Telethon 2017. Black Summer is signed to Tekzen Music LA and recently released his first single “Young Like Me Feat Lowell” which has been added to rotation on Triple J Radio, along with an accompanying film clip shot in LA and the Hollywood Hills which has had 350,000 views on Facebook and 70,000 views on YouTube (as of July 2017). Black Summer has also remixed “Edge of the night” by Sheppard soon to be released by the band through their label.
