New World Artists are Exclusive Booking Agents for Ruby Gill.
After decades spent silencing the South African forests in which she was raised, Ruby Gill hummingbirded over the Indian Ocean to hum about violence, joy, privilege and border security to a tolerant Melbourne population. Almost immediately, her piercing lyrics, grumpy guitar, classically-trained piano-hands and disproportionately massive voice left audiences across the country shaken, transfixed and sometimes a bit hungry.
Recently returned from her sold-out national tour of South Africa, Ruby Gill is currently in studio making sounds out of thoughts, and her upcoming single “Your Mum” is expected to leave some exceptionally large potholes in both the industry and the kitchen.
Outside the studio, her sometimes scary and always silencing stage presence has appeared on line-ups and credits with Ben Ottewell (Gomez), Keegan Joyce, Jeremy Loops, Shortstraw, Shawn Phillips, Lime Cordiale and more, with festivals like Oppikoppi, Splashy Fen and Kennedys Creek tacked to her name. She’s about to embark on a run of summer show and sweaty crowds across Australia, from the Workers Club to Woodford.
Apple iTunes called Ruby’s music a “pop odyssey” and “Max Quinn from Triple J says he’s"stoked on this," which is real nice of him.
