THE SCREAMING JETS & DIESEL JOIN JIMMY-TOWNSVILLE 17 OCT
SOUNDS OF ROCK UNVEILS POWERHOUSE TOWNSVILLE LINE-UP!
There is a certain caliber of music that defines the Australian spirit, and this spring, those
timeless sounds are returning to North Queensland on Saturday the 17th October 2026. The highly anticipated
SOUNDS OF ROCK music festival is set to make its return to the North, offering a sophisticated
yet high-energy showcase of the artists who provided the soundtrack to our lives.
This event remains the premier destination for those who appreciate the enduring quality of
genuine Australian musicianship and world-class live performance.
Leading the charge for this prestigious homecoming is the undisputed icon of the Australian
stage, JIMMY BARNES. With a career spanning decades and a voice that remains the gold
standard of rock and soul, Barnesy is set to deliver a setlist of unparalleled hits. From the gritty
honesty of "Working Class Man" to the soulful melodies of "Driving Wheels," his presence
ensures an evening of absolute musical excellence for the Townsville audience.
The momentum continues with a lineup of performers who have truly stood the test of time. THE
SCREAMING JETS return to Townsville to deliver their trademark brand of rock, featuring
essential anthems like “Better” and “Helping Hand.” They are joined by the incredible DIESEL,
whose virtuosic guitar work and smooth, blues-influenced vocals on tracks like “Tip of My
Tongue” and “Crying Shame” remain as captivating today as they were upon release.
In a special treat for fans of the great Australian songbook, ARIA Hall of Famer ROSS WILSON
joins the 2026 bill. As the creative force behind some of the country's most enduring hits, Wilson
will have the crowd in full voice with the timeless “Eagle Rock” and the classic “Come Said The
Boy.”
The afternoon will also feature the legendary RICHARD CLAPTON, as he revisits chart-toppers
like “Girls on the Avenue” and “I Am an Island.” Completing this extraordinary collection of talent
is the incomparable TONI CHILDS, ready to perform her quintessential hits—songs that have
become an essential part of the Australian outdoor experience.
"Townsville has always shown a deep appreciation for the legends of our industry," says a
festival spokesperson. "Coming back with a lineup of this pedigree, headlined by Jimmy Barnes
alongside Ross Wilson and Diesel, is our way of honoring that passion. This is a premium
experience for those who love great music played by the best in the business."
Tickets go on sale Thursday, 30 April 2026 via oztix.com.au.
