Bugs share music video for their latest single
Brisbane’s most enthusiastic pop trio Bugs are excited to share their tongue-in-cheek, feel-good video to accompany their newest single ‘Something’s Bound To Go Bad’, which premiered on Pilerats yesterday. The release is the third taste of their highly anticipated upcoming record ‘Self Help’ due out September 20.
The release comes with the news that Bugs will support Grinspoon on their national ‘Chemical Hearts’ tour, joined by The Hard Aches and The Gooch Palms in October and November, plus an appearance at Yours & Owls in early October.
Centered around the Toowong house in which Bugs recorded the single, friend of the band Daniel Simpson carries out a daily routine riddled with almost-happy endings, unfortunate timing, and misunderstandings that ends in an awkwardly endearing round of drinks at the local pub with the band and a Looney-Tunes ending.
“We brainstormed the concept for the video after band practice on the back deck at Brock’s studio one evening,” reflects vocalist Connor Brooker. “We all wanted it to be a lighthearted representation of a personal crisis - something that depicted the turmoil and emotion the song has charged into it.”
“The videographer Matisse Langbein is someone we have known and wanted to work with for years, as she has such a unique creative eye, so it was great watching her direct with authority and vision. We needed a protagonist willing to shave his head too and our good friend Dan put his hand up in a totally legendary sacrifice. The day filming was so fun, we’re all really proud of how it turned out!”
