NWA Welcomes Adelaide Songwriter Stellie
“I'll be telling anyone who has ears to get around this… b-e-a-utiful.”
- Declan Byrne (triple j Unearthed)
Following on from supporting Winston Surfshirt in her hometown of Adelaide and soon to make her industry debut at BIGSOUND this September, indie-pop breakout STELLIE today shares her brand-new track and first official single, 'Love Me First' and announces signing with New World Artists (Allday, Mallrat, Kota Banks, Slumberjack, Tyne James Organ, Arno Faraji).
'Love Me First' follows on from introductory tracks 'Cry Baby' which was written on piano in her bedroom in Adelaide and 'Let’s Forget We Were in Love' which was co-written with Adelaide producer Mario Spate. Both tracks won the 20 year a flurry of attention, including a deal with New World Artist's Edwin Tehrani, who was hooked from the start "'After hearing 'Let’s Forget We We’re In love' I knew I had to hear more, the demos that followed were even more exciting and I knew then and there we had to sign Stellie." says Edwin.
Inspired by strong female voices such as Lorde, Jorja Smith and Maggie Rogers, Stellie says of the track: “‘Love Me First’ is a classic example of one of the most cliche? sayings - ‘love is blind’. It was one of those cases where I didn’t believe it could happen until it happened to me. Unwittingly, I was fooled into thinking I had been promised the world, only to have it completely disappear.”
Stellie is set to support Didirri on his forthcoming South Australian show and with an exciting year ahead, is on track to be one of Australia’s brightest stars
