The Outdoor Type return with ‘Dirty Water’, their latest slice of Australiana guitar-pop. Released on September 14th through Nettwerk Music.
It’s been a huge 12 months for The Outdoor Type, from breaking the top 40 Triple-A charts in the U.S and playing their first international shows, to sharing the stage with the likes of Vance Joy and Portugal. the Man. After signing with Paradigm booking agency for North America, the band turned its attention to recording their debut album with producer John Castle (Josh Pyke, Vance Joy, Cub Sport). Ending the year on a high note, the release of the ‘Perspectives’ EP and the lead track ‘Middle of the Road’ received extensive praise from local radio.
With a debut album ready for release and burgeoning international presence, 2018 is shaping up to be the year for The Outdoor Type.
‘Sonically, I think we were chasing that widescreen, cinematic sound of home. You know when you flick on gold FM and Icehouse or Australian Crawl are belting out one of their ‘evergreens’, there is a distinct sound there. It’s probably just nostalgia, I’m not sure, but it’s a sound we’ve gravitated towards,’ explains frontman Zack Buchanan. ‘Lyrically the song is a rumination on the current state of things, the micro and macro.’
