Six-time X Games Best Trick gold medallist Jackson Strong said: “We haven’t been able to compete in over a year due to Covid restrictions and we’re stinging to get back out there and rip in for fans. The competition at Inverted Festival is going to be fierce, with the world’s best action sports athletes going head-to-head and I can’t wait to get out to be a part of it.

In fantastic news for fans of live music, Second Sunday and TEG Van Egmond have teamed up with Major Events Gold Coast to present the COVID Safe event at Metricon Stadium for more than 20,000 fans.

“Major Events Gold Coast is proud to support the growth and diversity  of the Gold Coast’s events culture and we look forward to collaborating with such an exciting event for our youth,” said Jan McCormick, CEO, Major Events Gold Coast.  “To the families who are travelling from afar, we invite you to make the most of the long weekend by booking a hotel and enjoying a memorable stay on the Gold Coast for all.”

While operating at reduced capacity, Inverted Festival will mark the largest stadium music event on the Gold Coast since the shutdown of the live entertainment industry, due to the pandemic.

“This is great news  for our youth  as I know  they are screaming  out for more age-specific  events focused on their market,’’  said Mayor Tom Tate.   “Our Major Events team is broadening  the city’s events calendar, bringing in more visitors and ensuring our annual program covers exactly what Gold Coasters are looking for. But as tempting as it is, I won’t be dusting off my rusty BMX bike for this one.’’

This event will be held with a commitment to a COVID Safe environment, with a capacity of 24,000 at Metricon Stadium. Second Sunday and TEG Van Egmond will work closely to comply with all requirements of the public health authorities.

“We have seen the successful and safe return of large crowds to major live sport and it is time for live music to make a return at scale at Metricon Stadium, which we will operate in a reduced, COVID Safe capacity for these shows,” said Dan Morgan, Event Co-Promoter, Second Sunday.
